Warmed Ham and Cheese Sliders

I’m sure you’ve seen this recipe floating around Pinterest … it’s certainly been on my radar for quite a while.

BUT …

I’m not a fan of those sweet Hawaiian rolls that everyone uses ….

So when I saw these dinner rolls at Walmart the other night, I grabbed 2 packages at $2.28 a piece. One of them got stuffed in the freezer and the other package was used to make these on Friday night prior to our Movie Night.

This is really simple. Like Stupid Simple!

I figured it costs me about $7 TOPS and we had leftovers. I would certainly say to add this to your food entertaining rotation as they would be great for a party.  We ate them as a dinner since we were going to be having some junky food stuff while we watched a movie that night …

Here’s what you need:

1 package of dinner rolls (12 count), try to slice the whole package in half as one sheet of bread
3/4 pound of ham
10 to 11 slices of cheese. I used Asiago as it’s what I had in the fridge
1/2 stick butter
1 tbs worcestershire sauce
1 tbs gray poupon mustard
1 tbs black sesame seeds (not required, but I did have them in the pantry!)
1 tbs dehydrated onions (alternatively, you can use fresh diced if you don’t have)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grab a 11×13 glass baking dish and spritz it with some non-stick spray!

Lay the bottom half of the rolls on in the glass dish. Mine broke in two pieces when I picked it up but no worries …

Add your first layer of cheese.
Then add a layer of ham … this is like my all time new favorite from Walmart

I did like 3 layers since it was thin sliced

Then add another layer of cheese … you may have to modify like me if you have an odd number of cheese slices

Top with the to halves of the rolls …

Take the butter, worcestershire, mustard, onions and sesame seeds and melt them all together ..,

And then pour that buttery mess over the tops of the buns.

Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes til the cheese is melted and the sliders are warmed through.

Serve up and enjoy! We had ours with a little leftover Sesame Noodles and called it a meal!

NOTE: I think in the future I will sprinkle the sesame seeds over the top AFTER cooking. Just because.

If you are serving these at a party, I would suggest garnishing with some fresh chopped parsley, just because parsley makes everything pretty!

forward to sharing with some of these

  1. This reminded me of some delicious little sandwiches my mom used to prepare for parties. She used ham salad made from left over ham. Then she individually wrapped each sandwich in tin foil and warmed them in the oven. Delicious.

  2. Great way to serve a bunch!Thanks!Michelle
