Passiontea Lemonade

Uhm, HI!

I’ve got a confession to make … I’ve only been to Starbucks 2 times in my whole life.

Which kind of makes me a not so very good copycat recipe kind of girl with this here recipe …

I did test it out on some folks who have had it and they say it’s spot on!

Funny, first time at Starbucks was in downtown Chicago on a freakin, blustery, late November day … Hubby wanted to duck in to this little place and I didn’t know WHAT to order, it is a little overwhelming, that menu board! So I just ordered a mocha whatever, which come to find out, was a glorified hot chocolate. Perfect for that day!

The next time was with my boss one morning, who happens to know about my anti Starbuck visits … and I got a Vanilla Frappuccino. I had no idea it was basically a frozen desert type thing and was instantly sorry I ordered it as I knew that sugar crash was going to be ugly in the office … live and learn!

Yes, I took a picture and posted it on Instagram and forwarded to Hubby

So. Back to this recipe … Princess was coming over and I’ve seen so many Pinterest pins on this stuff. I had the tea bags (bought a LONG time ago) and I had just bought some Crystal Light lemonade … so figured, what the heck, let’s do this! It’s something I make pretty much every weekend now 😉

Here is how I made it:

4 bags of Passion Tea
4 cups water
1 cup prepared lemonade
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tsps simple syrup, if needed (I always keep a batch on hand: 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, heat til sugar is dissolved, cool and store in jar in fridge)

Bring your water to a boil in a sauce pan. Remove from heat and toss in the 4 bags of tea, vanilla and 2 tsps of simple syrup.

Make sure you sniff the bags before you put them in the water … I told Hubby “hmmm, I might have to start drinking this stuff all the time!” it smelled so good!

Allow to steep 15 minutes or so. Remove the bags. DON’T SQUEEZE THE BAGS!

Pour in a large pitcher and add the lemonade, stir and let chill in the fridge for 2 hours or so.

Soooo … not my ‘ideal’ choice for lemonade but it worked

Taste, and add more sugar (simple syrup) if too tart.  Serve up over a tall glass of ice and enjoy!  *This will make about 4 to 5 servings* You think I would have gotten a picture of the glass, don’t you? We were poolside that first day and well, I’m just not a fan of cameras and iPhones by the pool for obvious reasons 😉

Looking forward to sharing with some of these GREAT Parties … go check them out!

  1. Even though I been there more than twice, I'm not really a Starbucks fan, either. I do love tea and lemonade together, though. I've tried different flavors, but not passionfruit! Sounds delicious! May have to go out and try it for myself! Thanks for sharing. stopping over from the Chicken Chick blog hop.

  2. Ann, it's not \”passionfruit\” so to speak, but \”Passion\” tea … just a mix of herbs, orange peel, rose hips and so on 🙂 I'm tempted to buy one just to see how it compares, but then again, I am Frugal and just hate to spend that much money on a beverage!

  3. I love Tazo's Passion tea. When I super lazy I just toss one into my water bottle at work, it cold brews pretty well since its not a traditional tea. I just wish it went on sale more often

  4. I was wondering if I could to this cold-brewed and may have to try it just for kicks! Thanks for sharing!
